World Health Organization

Tackling Infodemic With Accurate and Trusted Sources

Overview

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) primary role is to direct international health within the United Nations system and to lead partners in global health responses. WHO has established the Information Network for Epidemics (EPI-WIN), which seeks to give everyone access to timely, accurate, and easy-to-understand advice and information from trusted sources on public health events and outbreaks through various platforms. At the time, COVID-19 was a global public health emergency. It was critical for the WHO to lead and provide the necessary means to provide timely and accurate information through EPI-WIN.

Challenge

Momentum was tasked to determine trust levels within corporations, youth, and faith groups and how to leverage these groups to disseminate the correct life-saving health information globally.
Our Approach

Determine Essential Elements to Deliver the Best Impact.

The Momentum team conducted deep dives to formulate a strategy through various approaches. With the limited time and the vast scale of this project, Momentum worked with the WHO team to determine the essential elements to deliver the best impact for early adopters. The approach enabled our engineering team to roadmap the 9-month MVP and beyond.

Outcome

Visual Design and Development for Desktop, Mobile and Tablet

Momentum achieved a UX culture at the WHO, where the user and product come first. We understood a product is never complete, so knowing how to build with strategy, measure, and learn from every single iteration delivered the results and achieved their goals. In our final deliverables, we provided a new design system and visual design direction for their team to grow from, which was key to getting them on the right track to evolve as an organization.
